Significance of Eight: 5768

In Judaism, the number eight always alludes to a departure from the "natural" world, and entry into the supernatural world. The number eight represents a level that is higher than nature and above time. Eight is the level of the miraculous, not bound by the laws of nature. If we look at our history, we can see a pattern of great miracles and redemptions that occurred in the year ending with the number eight:

* Avraham Avinu, zs'kl, was born in the year 1948
* Moshe Rabenu, zs'kl, was born in the year 2368
* Exodus from Egypt occured on 2448 (תמ"ח)
* We received the Holy Torah at Mount Sinai on 2448
* In the desert, we won the war against Amalek on 28 Iyar, 2448
* Yericho (Jericho) was captured by Yehoshua bin Nun, zs'kl, in the year 2488 (תפ"ח)
* The first Bet HaMikdash was built in the year 2928
* The second Bet HaMikdash was built in the year 3408
* Rebirth of Israel on Iyar 28, 1948
* The fall of SMolmert's government on 5768

There are only 2 months left in the year 5768 and therefore, it is important to remember the recent dream Rabbi Shachne Zohn Shlita had when the Chafetz Chaim, zs'kl, appeared to him and said, "The redemption is close. Publicize and prepare yourself."

The Rav Gaon Dov Yaffe Shlita, Mashgiach of Yeshivat Knesset Chizkiyahu in Rechasim, told this dream to the Yeshiva students in a recent shiur. Also, Rebbanit Batsheva Kanievsky Tichye said that she knows this dream is accurate and it's a Mitzvah to publicize it.
