Small Act - Gigantic Impact

Arachim organization has been helping many Jews to get acquainted with their Jewish roots and has assisted thousands of Jews to reconnect with Judaism and HaShem.

In one particular Shabbat seminar (3-day seminar), the usual crowd of curious families arrived to hear Shiurim (classes) about Judaism given by Rabbanim. One of the guests was a middle-aged man and although he attended every shiur, he did not seem to be particularly impressed. When the Rabbanim inquired about his lack of interest, he replied that although everything they teach makes sense, it does not have any effect on him and becoming religious is not on his agenda.

Towards the end of the weekend seminar, there was a symposium. During the symposium, the management of the Arachim organization calls people up to the stage to share the effect the seminar had on them.

The middle-aged man was called upon to speak during the symposium. He told the audience that everything he learned this weekend had no spiritual effect on him but something else did. It happened during the afternoon and it changed his outlook on Judaism completely and effected him deeply.

Someone offered candies to all the children and the kids were so excited, they immediately opened the candies and ate it, except one little boy. He also took a candy but instead of eating it, he ran to his mother and asked her to check if the candy was kosher. The mother told her son that the candy did not have kosher certification and without thinking twice, the little boy threw the candy inside the trash.

"This little boy was able to overcome his temptation by throwing away the non-Kosher candy. Even though his mother did not offer him another candy instead, the 5 years old child was able to go against his character by throwing the non-Kosher candy in the trash. This act impressed me so much and had such an impact on me, I decided then and there that Judaism is the only path for our family. This is the kind of education I want my kids to have."
