Every year, with precise perfection the small birds, swifts, return to the Western Wall for the purpose of nesting and reproducing. The swifts do not nest on trees like all the birds, but rather in the cracks, crannys, and clefts of the Kotel. These birds are the most unique and live all their lives in the air, even sleeping. The only time they stop flying is during the period of nesting.
Many researchers investigated why these unique birds choose to specifically nest only at the Western Wall. The Kotel is very old, almost 2,000 years old and very high. It is a mystery till today.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 4 pm many observers will be at the Kotel to view the mass entry of the swifts return to the Western Wall.
