Destructive Forces During 3 Weeks

In the weekly shiur on Motzei Shabbat, Gdol Hador, Maran Ovadia Yosef Shlita warned about about a demon that is all eyes and is extremely dangerous, especially during the 3 weeks (between 17 Tamuz and 9 Av).

The Rav brings it from Shulchan Aruch (Rabbi Yosef Caro, zs'l, Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim 551, Chapter 18) as it says, "One must be careful from the seventeenth of Tamuz until Tisha be-Av not to walk alone from the 4 hours {10am} until 9 hours {3pm} since during this time destructive forces have control, and one should not physically punish students during these days."

The dangerous demon קטב מרירי is influencial during these dangerous days, as it says, מדבר באופל יהלוך מקטב ישוד צהרים Tehillim 81. Rav Ovadia continued and explained, "During these days, a person should not walk between shade and sun (between 10-3), due to the strong influence of this demon. This demon is all eyes and whomever sees him, dies".

In his new sefer, "Ovadia Vision 4 Fasts", Rav Ovadia refers to the said demon from Chazal and gives a more descriptive definition of this dangerous demon, "קטב מרירי is all eyes, peels and peels, hair and hair."

He also warned parents not to strike their children these days because the demon can turn the tiny educational spanking into death, r'l.
