Rav Kanievsky Votes for Rivlin
Ruby Rivlin, candidate for Israel's President, was received warmly by Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita in Bnei Brak and received a blessing. The Rav is the son of the Steipler Rebbe, zs'l, the son-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Sholom Eliashiv Shlita, and nephew of the Chazon Ish, zs'l.
Although Rav Kanievsky is known to refrain from engaging in politics, he blessed Ruby Rivlin with "Blessing and Success". A close person to the Rav explained that the Steipler Rebbe said that Peres will never be elected to be Prime Minister, but nothing was said about Presidency. Rav Kanievsky said that Peres does not deserve to be Israel's president.
Charedim (religious) Jews told Rav Kanievsky that if Peres wins, there is big fear of Chillul HaShem.
