Boycotting Continues

Many more Rabbanim are joining in and warning not to fly with El Al. HaRav HaGaon Kanievsky Shlita warned "There is real danger flying with El Al".

Rabbinical leaders from all sectors of the religious population called immediate boycott of the airline. Hareidi religious rabbis overseas also ordered their population to cancel pre-existing tickets, leading to a steep drop in flight bookings.

HaRav HaGaon Birnbaum, Rosh Yeshiva Meir said "It is forbidden to to fly with El El airline. If you already purchased a flight ticket with them, cancel it". Many of his followers are businessmen and frequently commute NY-Israel, business and first class from Newark airport.

My husband told me that someone told him that he made previous arrangements and puchased a flight ticket with El Al. Not knowing what to do, he called his Rav and told him that he tried for 4 hours to find another flight but could not find. The Rav told him he can go with El Al only one way and must find another airline to return with.

The man told my husband that a few years ago, he saw HaRav Yitzchak Amnon Shlita on the same El Al flight to NY. The Rav was talking with the passengers and one of the passengers gave him a hard time. He didn't understand why Orthodox and traditional Jews are so against El Al flying on Shabbat. The Rav is known for his quick and sharp answers. He told him that if El Al would ever fly on Shabbat, El Al airline would not only not fly on Shabbat, but also the rest of the 6 days.

It has been discovered that El Al's flight from Moscow served non-Kosher crackers on flights to Israel. An official חרם boycott has been placed on El Al by Rabbanim.

On the subject of boycotting, Eretz Israel Rabbanim are adamantly opposing and boycotting new school books that Minister of Education Yulia Tamir ordered all schools to provide and teach. Protests from Rabbis handed down a Jewish legal decree (psak Halacha) forbidding students from using the new textbooks.

By carving out Gaza, Judea, and Samaria territories from books, history, and memory, Yulia Tamir officially joined the enemies of the Jews. The Rabbanim are calling it the War Against HKB'H.

The battle is far from over. Now it is Israel trains. Although they don't operate on Shabbat, maintenance on all trains are done on Shabbat Kodesh.

So is it surprising that TODAY, US defense secretary-designate, testifying at his Senate Foreign Relations Committee confirmation hearing, says he cannot guarantee that if Iran possesses nuclear weapons it will not use them to put Ahmadinejad's threats into action and wipe Israel off map. However, he says US military attack against Tehran would be 'absolute last resort'.
