Truth of HaShem is Eternal

by Reb Asher Shlita

Masechet Pesachim, page 118:2
Rav Nassan, zs'l, says that during the splitting of the red sea, the fish said, "V'Emet Hashem Leolam " The truth of Hashem is eternal'

Rabba bar Mari, zs'l, asks: What is the meaning of that which is written: 'and they rebelled by the sea, at the Sea of Red?'

This verse teaches that the Jews rebelled at that time (after the splitting of the sea) and said, 'Just as we are ascending from one side of the sea, the Egyptians are ascending from the other side." To allay their fears, the Holy One, Blessed is He, said to the ministering angel of the sea, 'Spit the dead Egyptians out onto the dry land." The angel said before Him, 'Master of the Universe! Is there then a servant whose master gives him a gift and subsequently takes it away from him?! [ i.e. the egyptians were fish food].

The Holy One said to the angel, 'I will give return it one and half times their amount.' The angel said to Him, "Master of the Universe! Is there a servant who has the audacity to demand payment from his Master?!" The Holy One said to him, "The (Nachal) Kishon Brook will be a guarantor for Me."

Immediately, the sea spit out the dead Egyptians onto the dry land. The Gemara continues...

What is meant by 'one and half times their amount?' Regarding Pharoah it is written "and he took six hundred chariots," whereas regarding Sisra it is written "Sisra gathered all his chariots, nine hundred iron chariots."
900=1/2x600

When Sisra came with his army to fight the Jews, he came with spears of iron. The Holy One, withdrew the stars from their orbits, as it is written "From heaven they fought, the very stars from their orbits did battle with Sisera." Once the stars descended upon them, the iron spears became very hot. The army therefore descended to cool and wash themselves in the Kishon Brook.

The Holy One, Blessed is He, then said to the Kishon Brook, "Go and pay your pledge." The Kishon Brook immediately swept them away and cast them into the sea, as it is stated, "The Kishon Brook swept them away, the ancient brook."

The soldiers in Sisera's army were eaten by the fish and swallowed by the Nachal Kishon. At that point in time, it was PAYBACK for the time when the fish were given the Egyptians and their meal was snatched away from them!

What is meant by calling the Kishon an ancient brook? It intimates that Kishon was the brook that was made a guarantor in previous times. At that time, the fish of sea began to speak and they said: "And the truth of Hashem is eternal" "V'Emet Hashem LeOlam!"

Devorah HaNevia, a'h, reincarnated from Tzipora, Eshet Moshe Rabenu, a'h.
When Am Israel sang to HaShem the Shirat HaYam, Tzipporah was not with them, she was in Midyan. In the merit of giving her son a Brit Mila, as it says "ותקח צפרה צר ותכרת [את] ערלת בנה", Devorah merited to sing Shirat Devorah thru Ruach HaKodesh and the words "בפרע פרעות" in her song indicates the brit Milah of Tzippora and Moshe Rabenu's son.

The fish broke their will to perform HaShem's Will in the Red Sea and did not get their meal. During the generation of Devorah HaNevia, they reincarnated and got to to eat their promised meal - the enemies, in Nachal Kishon.
