Channeling the Fear

Rabbenu Nachman, zs'kl, writes in Likutei Maharan סימן ט"ו how to channel one's fear as follows:

The reason a person feels frightened from events occuring in the lower world (this world) is because this person sinned and transgressed and has not yet done Teshuva. When a person does not confess his sins and does not self examine himself, the general rule is 'if there is no judgment in the lower world, there is judgment in the upper world'.

The Heavenly Court judges this person and when this person is being judged, heaven's fear descents onto the lower world, masked in sorts of things to alarm the person. The fear would not have the power to panic the person if the higher fear would not be masked in it. Instead of a person fearing HKB'H and sinning against HKB'H, the person feels anxiety over petty things in the lower world.

But when a person self examines himself and his actions, he ascents the fear to its root to only be afraid of HKB'H and nothing else. When he does this, there is no reason for the Heavenly Court in Shamayim to judge this person and therefore, this person has nothing to fear in the lower world.

If you feel the news and current events alarm you, there is a solution: Do Teshuva and channel your fears to fear only HKB'H. If you will do this, you won't have to feel afraid anymore by realizing that all are messengers of HKB'H. You will no longer fear earthquakes, tornadoes, missiles, wildfires, hurricanes, tsunamis, nuclear war, inflation, recession, etc. etc. etc.
