Remedy to be Saved
The Mashgiach, who heard it from Rosh Yeshiva Rav Aharon Kotler, zs'l, who received it directly from the Chafetz Chaim, zs'l, that the last war will be the beginning of the redemption. When WWI broke out, many asked the Chafetz Chaim if this is Gog uMagog and he replied that there will be a short break and then another world war will break out and then a longer break, and again, a world war and with this war, Moshiach will arrive (b'h). He also spoke of atom bombs although not many understood at the time what it means.
When the Chafetz Chaim explain about the atom bomb, they asked how can say be saved from it. The Chafetz Chaim was surprised at this question. How can a ben Torah be afraid of weapons? (Who's Afraid of Weapons?). A ben Torah who lives a life of Torah, separated from the non-Jews, no danger approaches him. He is 100% guaranteed to survive. There is no doubt that he will be saved, as it says ''והבדלתי אתכם מן העמים להיות לי''. The non-Jews have absolutely no control over a ben Torah because they live in a "different planet".
Rav Yehushua Leib Diskin, Zchuto Yagen Alenu, said that it does not mean that one has to be from the 36 hidden Tzaddikim to be saved. Separate yourselves from non-Jews cultures, music, games, newspapers, books, etc. HaShem says to those "You are MINE". Just as the Leviim in Egypt separated themselves from the Egyptians and were never harmed. When Paroah came to ask the Jews to "help" him build, the Leviim ignored him totally. Therefore, they were untouchable.
When judges came to speak with the Vilna Gaon, zs'l, he never looked at them. Therefore, they had no control over him. When he once needed to appear in court, his eyes were cast downwards and paid no heed to the proceedings. They dismissed the whole case when they saw on his head Tfillin the name of HaShem YKV'K.
If a student learns Torah in Lakewood or Ohio, and the time to leave arrives, will it ever occur to him to say goodbye to the mayor of the town? He is totally disconnected from the non-Jews and politics. As it says, 'הן גויים כמר מדלי, וכאין וכאפס נחשבו''
