Harav Eliyahu Shlita about Moshiach
Partial translation from http://hashem1.net/?p=353
HaRav HaMekubal Mordechai Eliyahu Shlita spoke about this week's Parsha. He specifically spoke about
(דברים ד)[+/-] show/hide text
He brought from Or HaChaim HaKadosh that "בצר לך" "in your time of trouble" - this is a promise of the Geula. When Am Israel has trouble it is in the time of Galut. The trouble of Am Israel is to cause us to do Tshuva and those that will do Tshuva, will survive the birthpangs of Moshiach.
When the time of Moshiach will arrive, like now, but many people have not done Tshuva (yet), HaShem says: "I promise you will have trouble, in the North, in the South (the war now with Lebanon is in the North; and the war with Gaza is in the South). If Am Israel will unite and do Tshuva, Moshiach will arrive.
The Rav suggested how to do Tshuva: Chesed without advertisements, each person will be a Judge for himself - am I good or not good? Charity, learning Torah, saying Tehillim, reading Zohar, Mishna, Gemara, Rambam, Shulchan Aruch, Chumash, Ben Ish Chai (those who can). The power of the Torah can save and protect us.
The Rav also suggested that the leaders of Israel should not consider any international pressure, as it says in last week's parsha "Don't be afraid, because I am HaShem, your God will fight for you" לא תיראום - The Rav said it can be read לא תירא-או"ם- do not fear the UN.
The Rav spoke about the time of Moshiach, according to the Rambam and multiple opinions of what will be then. The Rav said something our ears are not used to. He said that "we have requests" for the Final Redemption and it's not enough that Moshiach will come and tell us that Hizballa can go to hell, and that the Hizballa will polish our shoes - these things are not interesting to us.
We have a special request; we want that all the trees, barren trees, each leaf, and every branch will provide us with luxury clothing... silk, gold thread. We don't care, the main point is that the tree will provide us with clothing.
What the Rav said is really surprising. Is this the special request we have, that trees should produce beautiful luxurious clothing for us? Chazal promises us, among all promises, when Moshiach arrives we will have this, as it says: Rabbi Chaye Bar Yosef: Eretz Israel's future will produce bread loafs, clothing, etc...
The wicked people of Israel are compared to barren trees and the rightous are compared to fruit trees, as it says ("אשרי האיש אשר לא הלך בעצת רשעים… והיה כעץ… אשר פריו יתן בעיתו…" תהלים א). When Moshiach will arrive, the wicked of Israel will do Tshuva. The Rav hinted that all Am Israel should do Tshuva and will merit to live in the time of Moshiach, very soon. Amen.
