הכי אמר רבי יוחנן: אמר הקדוש ברוך הוא לא אבוא בירושלים של מעלה עד שאבוא לירושלים של מטה.

Rabbi Yohanan, zs'l, said: The Holy One blessed be He said: I will not come into the Jerusalem the spiritual and Godly Jerusalem, until I come into the Jerusalem of this world.

Does this means without the physical Yerushalayim, we will be unable to spiritually be lifted to the level of the Yerushalyim in Heaven? What is the secret here?

The uniqueness of Yerushalayim is that it has powers to unite Am Israel and bring us closer to HKB'H. Without Yerushalayim, we will be unable to be redeemed. Our goal is that Moshiach Tzidkenu will come to Yerushalayim with the Bet HaMikdash.

It says in Tehillim 122 יְרוּשָׁלַיִם הַבְּנוּיָה כְּעִיר שְׁחֻבְּרָה-לָהּ יַחְדָּו:
“Jerusalem, which is built like an interconnected city"

It all depends on Yerushalayim, on our unity. When we distance from one another, we are actually distancing ourselves from Yerushalayim of Heaven and Yerushalayim of the lower world.

Jerusalem, the capital city of the Jewish People, is the eternal symbol of Jewish Unity.
